ARC Kings LLC, a specialty boat manufacturer based out of Shakopee, MN approached Scorpion looking for a coating that they could use for their boats that are used for various recreational activities like hunting and fishing.
ARC Kings wanted a coating that was durable, looked great, and could offer non-skid and slip protection in the boats. Their two biggest concerns were adhesion to the aluminum and added cost. They were using a paint when they contacted Scorpion, but what they were using just wasn’t durable enough and offered little to no anti-skid properties.

Scorpion worked with ARC Kings to develop a process and apply a coating that met and exceeded all of their needs. In the end, ARC found that they got great adhesion by simply blasting the aluminum with White Vinegar, wiping the area clean of debris and using Scorpion’s 8001 adhesion promoter. After the surface was prepped and the adhesion promoter was applied, ARC then applies Scorpion’s XO2 polyurethane coating.
To get the type of non-skid surface they were looking for ARC used rubber crumb on areas where they needed to be more aggressive and Scorpion’s Ultra Resin Sand additive in areas where they were looking for a finer, non-skid surface.
