Is Your Vehicle Ready for Old Man Winter?
Winter is around the corner. You do not want to be caught unprepared. There is nothing worse than be caught unprepared when there is inclement weather outside. A simple or easy roadside problem can turn into a life-threatening situation if you are not properly prepared.
Have you ever changed a tire along the side of the road when it is ZERO degrees outside and snowing?
It does not matter that you have experienced many winters before, you still need the tips below to ensure that you maintain your vehicle. Take a few minutes for winter car preparation, it will go a long way to ease your pain if something happens.
When was the last time you checked the air pressure on your spare tire?
I am willing to bet that it has been awhile…..
Wiper Blades tend to be another neglected item.
You will be surprised how often the blades of the wiper of your car are recommended to be changed. They are only good for a period of 12 months. This means you should replace them every year. As you check on your wipers, make sure your windshield washer reservoir is filled up with washer liquid other than plain water which will freeze as the temperatures are very low.
Does your vehicle have a Winter Emergency Car Kit? It is always better to be prepared.
My philosophy is……. better to have and not need, than to need and not have. Below are some winter driving safety items we recommend.
Extra clothes
Blanket
High energy food
Tool kit
First aid kit
Jumper cables
Flashlight
Ice scraper
Shovel
Flares
Hand warmers
Duct Tape (Hey, you just never know)
Matches and candle
Rock salt or kitty litter for traction
So, if you are preparing yourself for a trip this winter, do not overlook the above winter safety precautions and things you need to do for your car before you embark on that journey. Dedicating a few minutes can make a world of difference when a bad situation strikes.
