Textures and Vertical Hang
This 3rd part of the XO2 system is used to get the XO2 to texture and for vertical hang. This is the only component in the XO2 system that the ratio can be altered without affecting the physical properties of the finished product.
We are routinely asked how to get the material smoother for a specific type of application that does not need, or want, the finished product to be textured. The easiest way to do this is to reduce the amount of the “C” component by 1/4, 1/2 or up to 3/4. It is very important to remember that however much you reduce the “C” is also how much “vertical hang” capability that you lose.
For example, you can normally spray 35-40 mils of the XO2 on a wall in one pass. If you reduce the “C” by half, you can only spray 15-20 mils in one pass, otherwise the XO2 will sag.
For a floor application you can reduce the “C” by 3/4 for a naturally smooth finish. Do not leave the “C” completely out since the XO2 has a tendency to produce air bubbles without any “C”.
As with all of the CO2 components, proper storage is vital. Do not allow the “C” component to freeze as solid chunks can be formed that will not re-suspend once formed, making the “C” component unusable.
